On June 8, 2024, at the Future Game Show Summer Showcase, Nordcurrent Labs announced Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream, a narrative-focused stealth-strategy adventure game developed by River End Games.
Set in the fictional city of Eriksholm, inspired by early 1900s Nordic aesthetics, the game follows Hanna, a young orphan, on a mission to find her brother, Herman, who is currently being chased by the local police force. The journey will take Hanna on a path of no return, forcing her to rise from Eriksholm’s underbelly and become a symbol of change against the oppressive government.
“When we first laid eyes on Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream, we knew that it was going to be something special,” stated Andrius Mackevičius, head of publishing at Nordcurrent Labs. “The level of experience at River End Games is readily apparent. Despite its team’s modest size, they’ve blown us away at every turn. We are proud to support such incredible talents and have Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream be a part of Nordcurrent Labs’ continued expansion into the PC and console markets.”
In Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream, players control three distinct characters from a top-down 3D perspective, navigating through the detailed streets and underground areas of Eriksholm. Each character possesses their own set of skills, tools, and weapons to tackle obstacles and solve puzzles along the way. Players can adjust the in-game camera to survey their surroundings, strategize, and execute their plans with precision. Context-sensitive elements, like guard chatter, can offer crucial hints for progressing undetected, providing multiple solutions to challenges.
The game seamlessly blends storytelling, stealth, and strategy gameplay, offering high-quality visuals, motion-captured performances, and engaging real-time gameplay.
“All of us at River End Games are proud to finally reveal Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream to the world,” said Anders Hejdenberg, founder and creative director of River End Games. “This is just the first glimpse of what we’ve done, and we hope it will capture your hearts and minds, just like it has captured ours! We can’t wait to show you even more in the future!”
Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream is the debut title from River End Games, a studio founded by Anders Hejdenberg (known for Battlefield 2: Modern Combat) and acquired by Nordcurrent in 2023.
Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream is slated for release in 2025 and will be available on Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
